How To Vote
Step 1: Check if You’re Eligible to Vote
You can vote in Burlington’s municipal election if, on Voting Day, you are:
a Canadian citizen
at least 18 years old
living in Burlington, whether you own or rent, or
not living in Burlington, but you or your spouse own or rent property in Burlington.
Step 2: Confirm You’re on the Voters’ List
Being on the Voters’ List makes in-person voting faster and ensures you receive a Voter Information Letter with important voting details, including online voting information.
If you still need to be added or update your information, you can do so in person at a Burlington Public Library branch or at Service Burlington at City Hall until October 23. You can also update your information when voting in person at an advance poll or on Voting Day.
Step 3: Check Your Ward
Burlington’s ward boundaries have changed for the 2026 election, including changes affecting Ward 4.
Use the City’s interactive ward map to confirm which ward you live in before you vote.
Step 4: Choose How and When You’ll Vote
There are several ways to cast your ballot:
Online voting: October 14 at 10 a.m. to October 23 at 8 p.m.
Advance voting: October 17, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and October 20, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Election Day: October 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
By proxy: available for eligible voters who are unable to vote themselves.
Step 5: Find Your Voting Location
For advance voting, eligible voters can vote at any of the three advance locations:
Skyway Community Centre
Burlington Seniors’ Centre
Tansley Woods Community Centre
On Election Day, Ward 4 voters can vote at any voting location within Ward 4. The City has four Ward 4 locations listed for October 26:
Tansley Woods Community Centre
Mainway Recreation Centre
New Street Education Centre
Nelson High School.

Who Am I Voting For?
In October 2026, eligible voters in Burlington will vote to elect the: Mayor of Burlington* (1) Six members of Burlington City Council* (1 in each ward) School Board Trustee(s)
Vote for trustees in one of four school boards, based on your school support.
Choose from: Halton Catholic District School Board Halton District School Board Conseil scolaire Viamonde Conseil scolaire catholique Mon Avenir
*The Mayor and City Councillors also represent you on Halton Regional Council. Note: In accordance with Bill 100, Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, the Chair of the Region of Halton may be appointed by the Province or appointed by the members of Regional Council. The position will not appear on the ballot. Learn more about Bill 100.
